Zinedine Zidane Resigns as Real Madrid Manager Again
Legendary French Footballer Departs Santiago Bernabeu After Disappointing Season
Hours After Leaving the Club, Zidane Deletes Instagram Account
Zinedine Zidane has resigned as Real Madrid manager for the second time. The news was confirmed by the club on Thursday, just hours after Zidane had deleted his Instagram account. In a statement, Real Madrid thanked Zidane for his "immense contribution" to the club and wished him "the best of luck in the future." Zidane's departure comes after a disappointing season for Real Madrid, who finished second in La Liga and were knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals.
This was Zidane's second stint as Real Madrid manager. He was first appointed in 2016 and led the club to three consecutive Champions League titles. He resigned in 2018 but returned to the job in 2019. Zidane's second spell at the club was less successful, and he leaves with the team having won only one major trophy, the Spanish Super Cup.
